Biblical Discernment
What Is Biblical Discernment?
“But strong meat belongs to those who are of full age… who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” — Hebrews 5:14 (NKJV)
Biblical discernment is not rooted in human opinion, emotional reaction, or personal preference. It is a spiritual capacity developed through the Word of God and sharpened by the Holy Spirit.
It is the ability to rightly distinguish between truth and error, light and darkness—between what is from God and what merely appears to be.
How Is Discernment Developed?
Discernment isn’t automatic—it is trained.
1. “Reason of use”: Experience and applying God’s Word.
2. “Exercising senses”: Spiritual maturity through obedience.
3. “Aligning with truth”: Consistent practice in God’s ways.
