“The promise came first. The process came after.”
Waiting can make us question whether God’s delay means His denial. In this teaching, Prophetess Sherryann Hernandez reveals a biblical pattern seen in Joseph, Moses, and David: the promise may come first, but development often follows. God uses the process to strengthen trust, shape character, and prepare us to carry what He intends to release.
“God does not rush what He intends to establish. He does not release prematurely what has not yet been formed.”
Why delay should not automatically be interpreted as God’s denial.
How Scripture reveals a pattern of preparation before fulfillment.
What God may be developing internally while nothing appears to be moving externally.
How understanding the purpose of waiting helps you remain steady during the process.
Joseph received a dream before the pit and prison. Moses carried a calling before forty years in the wilderness. David was anointed before living as a shepherd and fugitive. Scripture repeatedly reveals that receiving God’s promise does not mean bypassing the preparation necessary to carry its fulfillment.
What appears inactive externally may be deeply active internally. In waiting seasons, God can align the heart, strengthen trust, and increase our capacity for what lies ahead. The absence of visible movement should not automatically be interpreted as the absence of God’s developmental work.
God is concerned with more than giving us what we desire; He is also forming the person who must carry it. Premature release can place weight upon undeveloped capacity. Therefore, the process is not necessarily rejection—it may be part of God’s preparation for what He intends to establish.
Father, give me wisdom to recognize Your work even when I cannot yet see outward movement. Keep me from interpreting delay as rejection or measuring Your faithfulness by my preferred timing. Search my heart and reveal what You are developing in me during this season. Strengthen my trust, mature my character, and enlarge my capacity to carry what You have purposed for my life. Teach me to cooperate with Your process rather than resisting it. When waiting becomes difficult, help me remember Your faithfulness and remain steady, knowing that You are able to use even this season as preparation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
