“faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.”
Matthew 17:20
Faith is not merely saying the right words while unbelief remains hidden beneath them. Through a deeply personal season of financial pressure, this teaching explores how God exposes distorted beliefs, uses His Word to rebuild genuine trust, and teaches us to stand on His faithfulness even while the outcome is still unfolding.
“Faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed).”
How to recognize hidden unbelief beneath declarations of faith
How past wounds can distort your perception of God’s faithfulness
How declaring God’s Word strengthens genuine faith
How to trust God while the outcome is still unfolding
Saying the right Scriptures does not automatically mean our hearts are standing in faith. Pressure can expose unbelief hidden beneath spiritual language. God may use the mountain before us to reveal what we truly believe so that He can lead us from surface-level declarations into genuine reliance upon Him.
Past wounds and disappointments with people can quietly distort how we perceive God. When human failure becomes the lens through which we interpret Him, trusting His promises becomes difficult. Genuine faith grows as false beliefs are confronted and we learn that God’s character is not defined by man’s inconsistency.
Faith grows as we continually engage God’s Word. As Scripture is spoken, meditated upon, and received, the Holy Spirit can make that truth living and personal within us. What began as words we struggled to believe can become inward assurance that anchors us while circumstances are still unchanged.
Father, search my heart and expose every place where fear, disappointment, or hidden unbelief has distorted the way I see You. Heal the wounds that have caused me to measure Your faithfulness by the failures of people. Teach me to trust Your character and stand firmly upon Your Word even when my circumstances have not changed. Holy Spirit, bring Your Word alive within me until truth becomes greater than fear and faith becomes stronger than what I see. Give me grace to remain steadfast in the waiting, knowing that You are faithful and Your Word will never fail. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
